Laparoscopic Gallbladder, Hernia & General Surgery

While my main focus is upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery, I also offer a range of keyhole (laparoscopic) general surgical procedures. These are safe, effective solutions for common problems that can significantly impact quality of life.

Gallbladder Surgery (Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy)

Reflux occurs when acid or bile escapes from the stomach and moves up into the oesophagus.
 It can cause:

Gallbladder problems are common—and painful. The most frequent issue is gallstones, which can cause:

Sudden attacks of upper abdominal pain (biliary colic)

Nausea, vomiting, and shoulder pain

Infection or inflammation (cholecystitis)

Pancreatitis, jaundice or cholangitis in severe cases

Bloating and indigestion

If you’ve had gallstone attacks or complications, surgery to remove the gallbladder is usually the best solution.

We perform this via keyhole surgery (laparoscopic cholecystectomy), usually as a day-stay procedure or with one overnight stay.

Fast recovery

Small incisions

Long-term cure — the gallbladder can cause of lot of symptoms and potentially serious health problems, but isn’t essential for digestion

Hernia Repair (Inguinal, Umbilical, Ventral)

Hernias occur when internal tissue or intestine pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall.

They won’t get better on their own—and may worsen over time.

We offer surgical repair of:

Inguinal hernias (groin area)

Umbilical hernias (belly button)

Ventral/incisional hernias (in previous surgical scars)

When is hernia surgery needed?

You notice a bulge, often with discomfort or pain

It’s affecting activity or quality of life

There’s a risk of bowel becoming trapped (incarcerated hernia)

Most hernias can be repaired laparoscopically, though some are better suited to open repair, depending on size, location, and prior surgeries. Mesh is used in most adult cases to reduce the chance of recurrence.

Fast return to normal activity

Durable repair with low risk of recurrence

We tailor the approach to you

Laparoscopic General & Diagnostic Surgery

Not every operation is about fixing a known problem — sometimes, it's about finding the diagnosis or guiding further treatment. As an experienced laparoscopic surgeon, I offer a range of keyhole procedures that are minimally invasive, precise, and often performed as day-stay or short-stay operations.

These procedures may be diagnostic, therapeutic, or both — and are often used when symptoms, scans, or pathology remain unclear.

Common Procedures I Offer Include:

Diagnostic & Staging Laparoscopy

For cancer assessment, unclear imaging, or unexplained symptoms such as pain, ascites, or weight loss. This may include biopsies, fluid sampling, or planning for further surgery or oncology care.

Laparoscopic Appendicectomy

For suspected or confirmed appendicitis, including complex or atypical presentations.

Laparoscopic Small Bowel Resection

For tumours, bleeding, Crohn’s disease, strictures, or focal pathology identified on imaging or during exploration.

Laparoscopic Lymph Node Biopsy

For deep intra-abdominal or para-aortic lymphadenopathy when a tissue diagnosis is required and not accessible by less invasive methods.

Minimally invasive

Often same-day or short-stay procedures

Clear diagnostic insight with less recovery time
